Ghana’s leading Pharmaceutical Company, Ernest Chemists Ltd (ECL) has launched three variants of a new product for the management of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in men.
Prostenal is an improved formula of proven prostate care in the management of BPH and is the first of its kind in Ghana in respect of the unique combined active ingredients.
Prostenal is a product of STADA, a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry with Ernest Chemists Ltd as the sole importer and distributor in Ghana. The product comes in three variants namely Prostenal Forte, Prostenal Control and Prostenal Night.
The launch had in attendance the leadership and members of the Urology Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Community Practice Pharmacists Association, Over the Counter Medicine Sellers Association, Association of Medicine Counter Assistants and other selected health care professionals.
Launching the product, Prof Mathew K.Y Kyei an accomplished Urologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Ghana Medical School commended ECL for staying true to its brand promise of providing quality and affordable medicines to Ghanaians.
He stated that the Prostenal variants have the right dosage of such essential active ingredients like saw palmetto, stinging nettle etc which is an essential element in determining the efficacy of products.
He mentioned that BPH medicines rich in saw palmetto already exists in other European countries, citing Germany where about 90% of the German population in need of prostate care use saw palmetto based herbal products.
According to him, the presence of such essential ingredients as saw palmetto, stinging nettle, and cranberry juice were necessary in managing BPH.
The Brand Manager for Prostenal, Mr. Isaac Mensah demonstrated the key highlights of the three products, their main active ingredients and their usefulness.
According to him, the three variants whose major ingredients include Saw Palmetto, Nettle, Zinc, Ashwagandha, Vitamins B and D3, and Canadian Cranberry helps to maintain a healthy prostate, supports the onset and quality of sleep for full body regeneration, contribute to maintenance of urinary function and proper urine flow.
Further, he said they contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood and positively impact potency while the Tribulus Terrestris has positive effect on libido and erection.
The Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager at ECL, Clement Atagra indicated that the launch of Prostenal is testament to the company’s resolve to continue to lead initiatives aimed at improving the lives and health of customers.
