Ernest Chemists Ltd (ECL), in collaboration with Sinocare, has offered free blood screening exercise to customers of the company in all its branches across the country.
The exercise is part of this year’s World Diabetes Day activities, which is marked on November 14, every year.
The free screening witnessed hundreds of customers of the company taking advantage of the screening to ascertain their diabetes status, and received education on how to stay diabetes-free life or better manage it.
Commenting on the exercise, the Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager of Ernest Chemists Ltd, Mr. Clement Atagra explained that ECL does not only pride itself in providing quality and affordable medicines, but also prioritizes preventive health.
He expressed concern that the incidence of diabetes posed severe social and economic challenges to families, society and the country as a whole, thereby requiring a collaborative effort to address the problem.
“It is in view of the numerous health challenges that diabetes and its related health consequences has on the human resource base of the country that ECL, in collaboration with partners like Sinocare is embarking on this all-important initiative,” he said.
Mr. Atagra expressed the commitment of ECL to continue to improve the lives of society through its numerous Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
He added that ECL continue to demonstrate leadership in healthcare delivery by among others offering free medical screening such as blood pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index and patient counseling on medications in all our retail shops (pharmacies) across the country.
